Founded in 1999, the Health Funders Partnership of Orange County is based on a handshake and a shared vision of the Partners to strengthen and improve the health of Orange County residents, as well as to enhance the impact and efficiency of health philanthropy. For over ten years, the Partnership funded work by various community organizations to treat and ultimately prevent Type II Diabetes. Additionally, the Partnership incubated two health-related safety net programs, Access OC and the Children's Health Initiative of Orange County. The former provides much needed access to specialty care for uninsured members of our community, while the latter assists children and adults to enroll in insurance and social service programs.
The work of the Partnership has been transformational and has set a standard for health philanthropy in Orange County. In 2010, the Partnership received the 5th Annual "Supporting the Safety Net Award" from the Association of Community Affiliated Plans (ACAP) and was recognized as a national model of collaboration. In 2011, the Partnership received the Irvine Health Foundation Anniversary Prize for collaborative efforts leading to significant progress in the availability of care, health, and well-being of the community.
The focus of the Partnership's work is now changing to address gaps in services for youth and teens in our County. This work is in the developmental phase so please check back for updates.
